First DOHC in Japan
[edit]There is no validity to the claim that the Isuzu 117 was the first Japanese car with a DOHC engine. The 1963 Honda had a DOHC engine, as did the 1964 Honda s600. There may even be earlier examples out there, but these are 2 that I know of. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.117.251.249 (talk) 05:31, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- Likewise, the Toyota RT55 Corona had a DOHC 9R engine in 1967 and the Toyota 2000GT had a DOHC 3M engine in 1966 - both before the 117's 1968 release. I would like to remove 'the first Japanese car with a DOHC engine,' from the intro.
- Does anybody know if Yamaha was involved in the 117's DOHC engine? The cam cover looks remarkably similar to the 9R/10R/18R-G engines that Yamaha designed for Toyota - even down to the raised lettering and the raised border around the edges. Stepho (talk) 04:17, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
